Does our government do enough to hold corporations responsible for the disparity of income in the American society? It is this disparity of income that caused most of the violent situations we have throughout the world. It’s often referred to as oppression. Sometimes, it’s one ethnic group dominating the other. Sometimes, it’s just class distinctions among subgroups of the same ethnic background.

Always, it’s the wealthy concentrating their wealth at the expense of those who work for them. That’s how textiles made the South wealthy in colonial America. But it’s more than that. Pretty much, anybody will admit that history is replete with examples of societies being overthrown when the government becomes oppressive. It’s also replete with examples of oppression being successful for long periods of time.

So who is the real oppressor?

Many today feel it’s the government who’s the oppressor. I challenge that assertion and suggest that it’s big business that’s the true oppressor. I agree with the frustration of the anti-government people. So ultimate freedom sounds attractive on the surface.

We are focused on comforts and conveniences, and we have not been paying attention to what our businesses and personal habits were doing to the planet. Therefore I think we assumed that we had departments to take care of that. I mean what’s the Environmental Protection Agency doing anyway?  Aren’t they taking care of the health of the planet?
